Welcome to Towson ... (back)
Within
a mile of the Towson core, there are parks, playgrounds, performing
theaters at Goucher College and Towson University, a multi-cinema
plex at Towson Commons, national restaurant chains as well as
locally owned cafes and pubs. Live music performed by nationally
known “pop” recording artists is a regular feature
at the Recher Theatre, while a recital and concert series are
a tradition at Towson University and Goucher College. Furthermore,
both schools offer their own renditions of Broadway plays and
musicals, open to the public.
A stroll along the retail blocks of York Road will take you past a Barnes
and Nobles Bookstore and the Towson Public Library,
one of the busiest suburban libraries in the United States. Located just
a short drive from Towson are the Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore Museum
of Art, the Lyric and Meyerhoff Theatres, Center Stage, The Morris Mechanic
Theatre and The Baltimore Zoo, The National Aquarium and the Maryland
Science Center.
