Towson boasts a long and rich tradition of educational opportunities. There are more than a dozen schools serving students from kindergarden through advanced graduate studies. There are specialty schools as well with a widely diverse array of options from fine arts to technical skills to medical professions to modeling to international study. Towson has a high school named for the community and numerous private schools K-12, all are very convenient to the center of town, most only a short walk away. Towson also home to Towson University, a part of the state system of higher education, as well as, Goucher College, a long standing private institution located on the northern edge of the community. In addition to quality education, both offer many programs and events that provide entertainment and cultural opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
